As a responsible employer, HCL National Inc. has a compelling interest in
establishing programs to promote and enhance safety in the workplace. HCL
National Inc. has implemented a Drug and Alcohol Policy that is directed at
protecting the working environment, the health and safety of employees,
co-workers and the general public.
The Drug and Alcohol Policy prohibits the use, transportation and possession
of alcohol, drugs or any other substance which could impair a worker's ability
to work safely while on duty or in company vehicles and/or accommodation
provided by HCL National Inc., and/or our clients. Employees using prescription
drugs that may impair their ability to perform their work safely shall disclose
this information to their immediate supervisor prior to commencement of work.
Anyone in charge of work who knowingly permits a worker to work while that
worker's ability to work safety is affected by alcohol, drugs or other
substances, will face appropriate disciplinary action which shall be
administered by the management of the company or be terminated on a first
occurrence. Employees suspended and/or removed from duty will be required to
attend a meeting at the head office. Senior management will review each case
along with the designated employee.
The Drug and Alcohol Policy combines drug and alcohol testing with education,
supervisor training and access to assistance. Drug and Alcohol testing
procedures will follow the guidelines and standards of the Standard Council of
Canada Laboratory Accreditation Program for Substance Abuse. All drug and
alcohol test results are under strict confidentiality and are released by the
Medical Review Doctor to the designated company representative or alternate.
