The company began in 1987. In the early years the majority of work conducted was hand cutting and slashing seismic lines. By 1996 the company had grown to include several crawler tractors to clear lines while continuing with the hand cutting and slashing. In 1997 it was becoming clear that the seismic industry demanded better ways of clearing line. The company purchased its first Gyro Trac. There was extensive demonstration work done until the industry saw that mulching forest growth was much better environmentally. The only disturbance in the bush was above ground. There was no longer any need to turn the soil. This new method of clearing line is still being used very successfully today. These activities are carried out in western Canada. The company has earned a reputation for doing quality work and providing cost effective service. HCL National Inc. has crews and equipment that can handle seismic line clearing jobs of any size.

Pipeline and lease brushing has also become a vital part of our activities. Brushing of old and new sites for leased pipelines are becoming more popular because of the elimination of expensive burning and risk of forest fires.
